SPORTS MASSAGE

Perfect for the very active person or athlete.  Includes stretching and range of motion exercises. Helps prevent muscle strain and improves flexibility.

SYNERGETIC STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION AND MYOFASCIAL THERAPY

Fascia is a fibrous connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, bone, nerve, and blood vessel. It is the fabric that holds all of cells in place. If you could see it, it would look like a single sheet of tissue surrounding the body, however, there are multiple layers that work together.

When you feel stiffness or pain in your body, it can originate in several different places. Myofascial pain occurs in places where your fascial tissue meets or crosses. It can radiate from the area and spread, causing pain in a completely different area than where the problem originates. Tight fascia can restrict movement in your muscles and joints. As you overcompensate to make up for the loss in movement of a certain area, you can cause additional tightness without realizing it. This can lead to widespread discomfort and pain.

Founded by Magnus Ecklund, LMT, CSSI, this modality uses hands on techniques to release tissue restrictions, reduce pain, and increase mobility. Blood flow returns to starved areas, nerve function improves, and the body systems flow more smoothly due to less fascial restrictions. The body systems are then able to work in harmony.

The session starts with a functional assessment and postural analysis. Several sessions are recommended to restore the fascia’s elasticity and create lasting change in the body. This modality is recommended for someone who struggles to get relief from traditional massage.
